Spoon and Fork

Mallory has been really interested in watching Christopher and I eat with utensils, so we thought we'd give it a try. It wasn't but a few minutes in, Mallory was using her fork to pick up pieces of her banana and put them in her mouth. The whole process is very new to her, but she is very insistent on trying over and over again until she gets it right. The spoon is a little harder, as she turns it a little too soon, and most of what was on it, ends up in her bib catch. When she does make the connection, she is sure to let you know, and to show you how proud she is that she did it, all by herself.

Mallory has also discovered a new playground in the kitchen and dining room of our home. She is always checking out the kitchen cabinets and when she finds one she knows it's okay to open, it's going to be clean up later for mommy and daddy for sure! She is gentle with pulling everything out to play with, but less than interested in helping us put everything back. HA! It never fails, she always has to check out the locked cabinets under the sink in the kitchen and in the bathroom, just to see if by chance they will open that day. On Friday, she was playing in the kitchen, having a good time with the Tupperware, when all of a sudden she was quiet, prompting me to check in on her. This is where I found her....

She was just hanging out, balancing on the 12 packs of pop, trying to open Chico's dog food holder. She also reached for, and successfully pulled down the dust buster hanging on the wall. To bad she wanted nothing to do with it when I turned it on and showed her what it was all about! Look at how proud she is, of where she is. Little stinker!

Bath time has also become more of an adventure. Ever since Mallory has been able to sit up on her own (around 6 months), she has LOVED her baths. There is no difference in her joy to take a bath, but the actually cleaning and rinsing part, she would rather pass. I always wait until the end of her bath to put her through the cleaning regime, so she's not so worked about all the things she doesn't like, while she is taking her bath. So far, so good, but this particular day, she didn't want to wait for the rinse, she was going to do it all by herself. Here is a little video of bath time...

Now that you have all those big girl updates, be sure to check back after Christmas for plenty of photos and probably some videos of present popping fun !
