Mallory started preschool on Tuesday, September 6th. She is going two days a week to the Wee Tigers program here in Farmington. The week before she started, we were super busy with a schedule change for Christopher at work, Labor Day at the cabin and a wedding to travel for the following weekend. With all this extra stuff going on, it seemed as though her first day had happened upon us and we had totally forgotten about it. It only seemed that way.
The night before was full of excitement for all three of us. I labeled her backpack, jacket and her snacks. We had her take a bath, laid out her outfit, and read a book called "The Night Before Preschool". Mallory had no trouble falling asleep, but we, mom and dad, still had a few jitters.
In the morning we made sure she ate a hardy breakfast and while she was eating, she talked about how excited she was to go to school. I sometimes have a challenge getting her out of her PJ's in the morning and into real clothing, but not this day. She was READY!
Once dressed, we made one last pit stop at the potty and we were on our way.

Because of Christopher's new work schedule, he was able to come with us on the first day so we could make it a family affair. He was a proud daddy walking Mallory into school for the first time.

Once we were inside, near her classroom, we found her name on the wall and saw again who her teachers would be.
Pretty soon the bell rang, Mrs. Aune came around the corner, unlocked the door and we were in! Mallory remembered from her orientation where her cubby was and went right to it. She hung up her backpack in a hurry and sat down to play with her new classmates.
After a few minutes of settling in, we gave her a hug and a kiss goodbye. She was not at all sad to see us go, which was reassuring. Neither of us were too worried, she has been talking about school for quite some time now and was very excited at her orientation. She showed no signs of concern, which made it easy for us to leave her. Because of her readiness, we didn't shed one tear!
Christopher had to go to work, so I went to pick her up alone, and albeit pretty tired (school is now during what used to be nap time), she was happy to see me and full of information about her day. Every day of school since has been a breeze and the ride home is always filled with talk from Mallory about how great of a day she had at school. WE LOVE WEE TIGERS!
