Most of you already know, we got various amounts of snow yesterday, here in the Twin Cities metro area. In Farmington we got around two inches of snow. Mallory was super excited to watch the flakes fall and after nap time, she was begging to go outside and play in the snow.
We bundled up and headed out. She was frolicing around our front yard, back yard, into the street and up and down the driveway. She was very excited to be out playing in the snow! We were out playing for quite a while when Mallory suggested we build a snowman. The snow was not sticky enough to roll the body of snowman, so Christopher grabbed a shovel and made a snow pile which we turned into the best snowman we could.
.
We were finally able to use the very cool snowman in a sack kit that Molly Wengler gave me so many, many years ago. I was digging around in the snow for two sticks, some rocks and something for a nose when it dawned on me I had this kit. It worked perfectly and made Mallory's first snowman a SUPER one! We asked her what she wanted to name it and she promptly said "Frosty".
When the sun rose this morning and Mallory woke up, she said instantly that she wanted to go outside and play in the snow. It was a bit colder outside this morning, so we put on one more layer than last night and out we went. She checked on Frosty first thing and then headed for the back yard where we had a lot of fun tracking the bunny rabbit that lives under our shed! We rode the sled down our driveway several times, and "skated" a little on the icy street. My toes started to get really cold, so I headed in to warm up but Christopher and Mallory stayed outside for a bit longer. I am starting to think we have a cold weather girl! She never complained once of being cold or bored. She was having so much fun just running and jumping into the snow. Both last night and this morning she was bummed to have to come inside.
If this is how our winter is going to go, it will be so much better than last year. If Mallory is up for a little time outside in the snow on a regular basis, cabin fever will not make a presence at our house! Look at how happy she is.....
