On July 31st, we celebrated Mallory's 5th Birthday. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact she is five years old. So much happens when they turn five. She is now old enough to participate in many more community sponsored activities. We can start shopping in the little girls section. She can ride her bike without training wheels. She is no longer a toddler. Not only do her extra curricular doors open wide, she is going to be in Kindergarten. Yep, Kindergarten. For some that is no big deal and for others it's a HUGE deal. I would say we fall somewhere right in the middle. School five days a week will be something of an adjustment for all of us, but she is ready. More ready than us, that's for sure.
Anyway, for her birthday Mallory asked to spend the day at Como Town. She has actually been asking to go there for quite some time but I wanted to wait until she was tall enough to enjoy most of the rides. She is still a little peanut but at five years old she was able to ride almost everything by herself and a few with a parent chaperone. We opted for the unlimited wrist band (totally the best value) and off she went. She went on a bunch of rides, ate cotton candy, went on some more rides, walked around the zoo a little bit (Mallory was less than pleased with that break from the rides) and then back for more rides. She had a BLAST and so did we! It was just the three of us, together, all day. It was wonderful. Happy 5th Birthday Mallory! You are such a joy in our lives, we are so blessed to have you for our daughter!
Our sweet girl all tuckered out after her birthday celebration at Como Town!

The weekend after Mallory's birthday she had her friends birthday party at Brunswick Zone in Lakeville. Brunswick Zone is a bowling alley with cosmic bowling, the cha cha slide and the limbo! Those are just a few perks to the birthday party package! Mallory hosted a party for ten of her friends from her preschool classes and from our neighborhood. Those kids had so much fun and we had so much fun watching them having fun! Brunswick does a GREAT job with their birthday parties, we didn't have to lift a finger! Very organzied, very professional and clean. What a great memory!

Finally we celebrated Mallory's birthday with our family. Mallory asked for a Hello Kitty theme for her family birthday party at home. We had Grandpa and Grandma Hauer, Grandma Dee, Godmother Kelly and her husband Drew come over for the afternoon. We ate sloppy joes, chips and of course birthday cake. It was a nice way to end her birthday celebrations. Lots of new toys to play with, some new clothes, a very spunky new pair of shoes, a cool lamp and a set of roller skates. Happy Birthday indeed!
A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped us and Mallory celebrate her 5th birthday. It was such a fun week. As hard as it is, I am trying to not be sad about the fact that Mallory's toddler years are behind her and she is now a little girl. I am trying very hard to embrace the years ahead and be excited about her upcoming school years. Here is where I use the cliche, "she will always be my baby". That statement rings so true. You can't stop them from getting older or growing up, but they will always be your babies.
