Swimming Lessons 2011

It's winter and being stuck inside with a case of cabin fever is the norm in the Great State of Minnesota. With us being no exception, we are once again looking for activities outside of the house to partake in. Anytime we can find something that is fun and gives Mallory a chance to learn on top of it all, we'll take it. This is the case with Swimming Lessons. This is Mallory's third series of lessons. This time we are registered with the Red Cross certified lessons through Farmington Community Education. This is a perfect way to get the combination needed to cure the winter blues.

We've only had two sessions so far this time around, and unfortunately the pool water temperature is quite cold. This makes it hard for Mallory to stay interested because she is so focused on being cold and doesn't want to try any of the skills they are trying to teach. She is too busy clinging to Christopher or I to stay warm.

I am starting to think this will be the last time we enroll her in Community Ed lessons. While they have been really good for us so far, I think Mallory has gotten all she can from these sessions as they appear to be repeating themselves. They also do not have a class advancement until she is four years old. That means at least two more sessions/years of the same style class, learning the same skills she already knows. I believe we will be looking into a private swim school from now on, or until she is a little older. Either way, she usually has some fun in the pool, the instructors are wonderful and patient and Mallory always takes great naps on the days we have lessons.
