The Pumpkin Patch

For the third year in a row, we headed to Barten's Pumpkins. We just love that place and this year was no different in terms of how much fun we had. It was actually a little better this year, warm with lots of sunshine. Makes for easy pumpkin picking!

The first thing we did when we arrived was get in line for the free face painting. Ever since our trip to Canterbury Park, Mallory just loves the idea of getting her face painted. Today's choice was a spider....

Next was a free pony ride. The line had been quite long, but for whatever reason, when we headed over to the pony rides, there was only a two kid wait. What a treat! Here is a video of the ride....

Mallory also challenged herself to a gunny sack race. I wasn't sure how she was going to do since the gunny sack was taller than she was, but she did great! Here is a little video and while I understand she falls at the end, this was actually her SECOND
time up and down this hill in which she must have wore herself out and finally collapsed. HA!

Barten's is such a family friendly place, totally geared for kids. Throughout the patch they have little areas set up for children to play. As you can see, they built a little play house, a nice backdrop for a fall photo opportunity, pumpkin bowling, bean bag toss and well, I let her tell you the last one herself...

We ended the day (about 1.5 hours total) with a hay ride around the field where the pumpkins grow. We had a great time just relaxing after all that walking, even though the ride was kind of bumpy. Mallory really enjoyed telling me why all the pumpkin misfits were left behind. Like "that one is covered in pumpkin bugs" and "that one lost it's head!" We just love Barten's Pumpkins and all the joy it brings us. Simple, relaxing, FREE family fun!
