Easter Egg Hunt #1

This morning we attended the Rosemount Lions Easter Egg Hunt held at the Dakota County Technical College Ames Soccer Complex. The weather was supposed to be much nicer and much warmer, but Mallory is getting older and we need to upgrade her experiences like this a little. A few co-workers of mine suggested this Easter Egg Hunt because it was big, held on a big field and every kid gets plenty of treats, so off we went.

Even though it was only about 45 degrees outside, cloudy, foggy and a little misty, Mallory did great waiting patiently for the horn to blow. She was very happy to be there.
Who wouldn't be when she had that entire field of goodies to pick from behind her!
We got there pretty early, but there was a long line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot and I was later informed the traffic was backed up about a 1/4 mile down County Road 42. I was impressed with the turnout because the weather was less than ideal.

At 10:00AM the volunteers took there place on the stairs and sounded the air horn. This was a hand held can air horn like you would find on a boat in times of trouble. Nothing fancy and nothing too loud, but Mallory did NOT like the air horn....
It took me about three minutes to calm her down and get her to realize the horn was done sounding and so she could be done crying. She did get herself together but unfortunately a good portion of the goodies had already been picked up. She was able to fill her basket about a 1/4 full with treats. That's plenty for a girl her size and age.
We do have a second Easter Egg Hunt scheduled at our church for next Saturday which we have attended in the past, so I know she will do much better there. It's on a much smaller scale and there is NO HORN!
