In their four short years, they have played together, swam together, danced together, ate many meals together (and popcicles), watched movies together and this fall they will be in the same pre-school class. It's incredible how close they've become this past year. It all began, way back when....
That is Lucy on the left and Mallory on the right, playing in our front yard on a beautiful summer day in July of 2009. It evolved from here into a once a week, maybe even a once every two or three weeks play date. Generally they are together more in the summer, even though we live right next door, there are times in the winter they can go a few weeks without seeing one another. That will change this year since they are in the same pre-school class, which they are both incredibly excited about. For the past eighteen months, since the beginning of 2011 is when I really began to see their friendship solidify. They are constantly asking about one another and when they neighborhood is outside, there they are, side by side, thick as thieves. Case and point, Memorial Day 2011...A whole bunch of us from the neighborhood were hanging out between our houses and here were these two, enjoying the life of luxury, popcicle in hand. Does life get any better? As they started to get a little older and move through the summer of 2011, I found myself always asking Lucy's parents if they were planning on attending certain events to make sure Mallory would have her bestie with her. If not, I have been quite fond of taking Lucy with us. She is such a sweet, funny little girl. Here are some pics from said events in which the besties were in attendance....

Speaking of dance, here is a video of Mallory and Lucy in all of their dancing glory, just last night in the garage!
Like I've said in this post many times, they really are the best of friends. We are so fortunate to have Lucy right next door. She makes our little Mallory so happy. We often talk about the future with her parents and wonder will they stay besties, will a boy come between them ever, will they start to dislike one another because they live so close and will be in the same grade. Who knows, but for now they seem to be having a pretty good time with each other so we'll take it!
