Yep, we're such a big girl these day, at nineteen months old, we are sitting on a regular kitchen table chair and coloring. Look at how Mallory is holding onto the crayon. She really likes to color, and while she is no where near staying in the lines, she is getting better and better at holding the crayon at the right angle so she can draw. It's great to see her get so excited over a coloring book and some crayons, better yet ask for them! With cabin fever rearing it's ugly head, we've been making at many activity trips as we can with Mallory. We recently checked out Edinborough Park in Edina. The parts that Mallory is old enough to partake in, were free and fun! She had a favorite soccer ball, and when she "lost" it for a little while, she wanted no other ball. She eventually tracked it down again, and this time she didn't let it go.

With this being a huge indoor park, there were walkways, trees and waterfalls. Mallory really enjoyed checking them all out, especially this pond. We had to grab her twice, as she was ready to crawl over the rocks and jump right in!
Mallory has been working really hard at walking up and down steps, rather than scooting down on her butt. At home, she still scoots down our steps to the basement, but here is a video of Mallory at Edinbourough Park, showing off her newly polished stair stepping skills! On Saturday night, I took Mallory to the Mall of America, for some Mommy and Mallory time. We had a great time just walking around, doing a little shopping and basically just being together as mother and daughter. I decided at the end of the night to take Mallory to Underwater Adventures. Mallory has been a fan of fish since she was born, matter of fact, FISH was one of her first true words. Without any doubt, she had a blast at Underwater Adventures. She was oooing and aahhhing at anything and everything, and spent a good portion of our time there just pointing, staring and saying FISH! For those of you who don't know, Underwater Adventures is an underwater aquarium in which you walk through a tube, under the water, so you are usually looking up at the fish swimming above you. We saw so many cool Minnesota local fish, sharks and sea horses.

One good thing about being stuck indoors at this time of year, is her block building skills are definitely improving. She really enjoys her mega blocks, and will make a few small towers and knock them down, like she did right before I took this last picture.
.
One other quick update about being nineteen months old. Mallory is starting to say two word phrases. Some of the things she can say are: 1. Hi Mommy/Daddy
2. Golf Ball
3. A dog/cat/car
4. More please
5. Oh no
6. Uh oh
.
It's great to see her putting things together, and figuring out what goes together, like hat and mittens, two shoes instead of one, and pajamas are in the bottom drawer. We are looking forward to getting outside soon, and using her boots for playing in some of the snow, once it gets a little warmer, and before it melts. In four short weeks, you will be reading about Easter, man how time flies!
