Lake Nicaboyne

Weekend number two, cabin number two.

Instead of our usual trek to Lake Jefferson for the weekend, we headed the other direction this time, to the north. After a pit stop in Hinckley for lunch at famous Tobie's, we checked in at Lake Nicaboyne. The lake itself is deep into wooded territory, but not far from Webb Lake, WI.

Christopher’s brother Scott, his wife Cindy, and their two kids Hunter and Mackenzie have been in Minnesota for a week, on their summer vacation. They live in Texas. It was great to spend some time with them in such a beautiful atmosphere.

We also celebrated Grandma Dee’s 70th birthday. Even though her birthday is not until July, we were all together (which is rare), so we took advantage of that. We all had dinner together, with cake afterwards. Mmmmm cake.

Father’s Day morning, Mallory, Christopher and I took the paddle boat out for a ride around the lake. There is an island not too far off shore, so it was a good goal to aim for. Because the lake is so clear, we made it there and back with no snags, or weeds. Mallory, of course, was in charge of our destination, steering the paddle boat was her duty!

The water in the lake was very clear, so it gave Mallory a good opportunity to do a little lake swimming. Lake Jefferson is a little weedier, so she is reluctant to be in the water. Not this time around, she was running in and out of the water in no time.

She also put her fishing skills to good use off the dock. All of us also took advantage of the hammock, resting and relaxing, swinging and swaying. It was great!

Our ride home came a little earlier than expected, since Mallory was pooped from the morning activities, we opted to leave when she was ready for nap, so she could nap on the car ride home. She sure did, got a good hour and forty-five minute snooze in. She woke up in just enough time to see St.Paul from the north! She loves pointing at the big buildings and bridges, oh and all the trucks that go by on the freeway.
.
We had a wonderful time, even though it was shorter than all of us would have liked. It was great to see all the cousins playing together, and for us to relax with family!
