Fireworks

Another Independence Day has come and gone, but hey, this year was so much more entertaining for us. Mallory actually stayed up late to watch some real fireworks.

On Friday before the 4th, we went to Elysian for their 4th of July Celebration and saw some great fireworks over Lake Francis. Mallory has never seen “up in the air” fireworks, and waited patiently with Daddy. Once they started she was overjoyed! Lots of clapping, squealing and laughing followed. Although the skeets were pretty bad, we enjoyed the display and got another “first” out of the way.
During the day on Saturday, we took a few pontoon rides, and while Mallory is usually the navigator of said rides, on this particular weekend, she was more than happy to be my snuggle buddy. I wasn't going to argue with her.
On Saturday night of the weekend, we stayed at the cabin and enjoyed the pack of fireworks Grandpa Hauer picked up for Mallory. There was a large assortment of fountains, sparklers, showers and even some firecrackers. We all hung out, ooooing and ahhhing as we worked out way to through the pack.

On the 4th of July, a lot of the residents on Lake Jefferson shoot off fireworks. It’s so great because we basically have our very own show, right off the end of the dock. Mallory was sure to catch these too, this time sitting on the swing with Grandma and Grandpa. There was more ooooing and ahhhing, clapping, squealing and even some dancing.
On Monday we headed home, tired but very fulfilled. I am pretty sure we enjoyed the fireworks this year, twice as much as years past, because we were watching them through the eyes of our own child. Amazing.
