We've had some pretty big milestones this past month, so here are several updates.
.
1. First tooth - March 17th - she is teething and constantly chewing on whatever she can put in her mouth. You can see her tooth more and more each day. The bad days come and go, but for the most part, she is handling the pain very well. We have only had a few nights in which she wakes up from the pain, but some Tylenol or teething tablets generally do the trick. She is still sleeping between 10 and 11 hours a night. You can kind of see the tooth, lower left....

2. Crawling ALL OVER THE PLACE! Starting to rock back and forth on her hands and knees. She is also starting to pull herself up to her knees around the house. Whatever she can get her hands on that helps with that task, she will give it a whirl. Sorry, but the picture is kind of blurry.
I have learned we will probably have to bolt the dresser, and changing table to the wall. She's also capable of crawling into her bouncer from the floor. It will take a little bit for her to get turned around in it, but the fact is, she can get up in it on her own. Oh yeah, she also crawls through the bottom of her exersaucer, and right out of her pants.....

3. Talking all the time, matter of fact, we had a pretty big event on Friday morning. When Mallory wakes up in the mornings, she usually soft talks in her crib until we come and get her. On Friday, she was whimpering a little, Christopher went in there and she looked right at him and said DA DA. I heard it over the monitor and I couldn't help but cry a little. She babbles all the time and whenever she lets out a da da, we get close to her and say DA DA. I guess it's working.
4. She can "give you five"....
.
5. She is VERY interested in table food and wants to try everything. So far we have tried french fries, ice cream, bread, macaroni, deli sliced turkey, peas, and carrots. Mallory is less interested in her baby food, including rice cereal and pureed store bought stuff, but she recently tried oatmeal and seemed to like that in place of rice cereal. She is still really good at eating though, enjoying her fruit, juice, meat and veggies, every day. On top of all that is her daily servings of soy formula. She generally eats between 20-25 ounces a day.
6. We tried our first biter biscuit in the past week or so. She LOVES them, mommy does not. They are so messy. I invested in a new big, one that covers her shoulders, made of nylon so easy to wipe clean, and is also machine washable. Here is a video of her trying one for the first time. She was perplexed as to what was making her hands so sticky....
7. Mallory weighs 18 pounds, and is 28 inches long. Sometimes it seems like she grows overnight in her crib, or at daycare. You can just see it when you look at her, after not seeing for a while. She is right on track, which makes it pretty easy to have clothes that fit. Her one problem, still, is her length. Certain items fit fine everywhere else, but her sleeves are 3/4 length. Good thing summer is on it's way. (If it ever decides to show up!)
8. We have quite the cuddler, and she loves to sit and watch her "movies" (Baby Einstein DVD's)with you. She has also really started to like "reading" books. She will sit very contently for quite while and listen to you read. She follows along in the book, and loves "Caterpillar Spring, Butterfly Summer" for now. We read to her before bed and whenever we need a time filler. I know daycare has been reading to her for a while now, so I am sure that helps. It's really neat to see her following along.
Well that's eight updates, one for each month. Mallory is a wonderful baby girl, full of daily smiles, hugs and kisses. We are all looking forward to spring and summer, with an umbrella stroller that is just begging to be taken for a quick walk to the Kwik Trip for ice cream, and a used (new to us) bike trailer for her to ride in behind daddy on his daily bike rides. Oh yeah, he got a bike tune up too, so we are VERY ready to go.
